Providing meaningful access to herbal knowledge, fostering community connection with like-minded plant enthusiasts, and inspiring a deep relationship with the natural world, through monthly classes and events throughout the St. Croix River Valley area.

Welcome to the Saint Croix Valley Herb Guild!  

Whether you are a seasoned herbalist, plant enthusiast, gardener, or just beginning your walk into the wonderful world of plants, we are excited to meet you!  This non-profit organization was created as a way to bring together all of those interested in furthering their knowledge and understanding of the botanical world around them. 

The plant kingdom holds within it a wellspring of gifts in both nutrition and medicine.  It is our belief that this knowledge and wisdom is to be both honored and shared in ways helpful to humanity.    

Become a Member for $30/Year

Membership is an easy way to show your support for quality, accessible education centered around the powerful use of plants. As a member,  you receive year-long access to all of the classes and activities offered by the Saint Croix Valley Herb Guild, including topic focused monthly meetings, plant walks and seasonal events. You will also be the first to know of any exciting news and offerings hosted or sponsored by the Guild. 

Membership begins the date of signup with the option to automatically renew on the anniversary of your membership. Your support through membership helps provide the resources necessary to fulfill our mission of fostering a strong plant community in the Saint Croix River Valley.

Herbal Holiday Make & Take and Silent Auction

Join Jessie Belden and the SCV Herb Guild for a joyful evening of crafting herbal gifts! Jessie will lead us through how to make your own decadent herbal-infused salt and conifer-infused herbal salve which has a myriad of uses – great for holiday gifting! You will also leave with other incredible holiday gift recipes for cocktail/mocktail bitters, liqueurs, herb-infused chocolates, and body butter.

Spring Plant Walk at Bluebird Hill Homestead

Join us for an evening stroll through the terraced medicinal gardens and meadow pasture. We will learn about some common edible weeds, as well as some cultivated medicinal herbs. Led by Heidi Madsen and Jessie Belden.

Botanical Water Kefir at Bluebird Hill Homestead

Water kefir is a delicious probiotic drink that is a creative way to support our gut health with plant medicine right from our backyards. You will learn the ins and outs of these little creatures and taste test a few fun blends. Led by Heidi Madsen.

A Wander through Fairy Oaks Garden followed by Fairy Cocktail Hour

Join us for a meander around the property with identification of edible and medicinal plants. Followed by fairy mocktails and cocktails on the patio. Let’s enjoy shrubs,  switchel, and cordials! Led by Genevieve Needham.

A Toast to Herbs

Discover the deliciousness of three powerful plants:  Thistle, Sumac and Nettle.
You’ll sip and savor while learning their medicinal benefits at a magical farm.

Root Medicine & Meditation

Join Genevieve and Jessie along with the SCV Herb Guild for an evening discussing the myriad of food and medicinal uses of our local root medicines. Jessie will lead us on an informative walk diving deep into a handful of root medicines and their folk as well as clinical indications. Then, we will ground into a deeply rooted meditation lead by Genevieve to assimilate and embody all we have learned.

Promoting Breast Health

A powerful class that will give you practical steps for promoting the health of your breasts with herbs, nutrition and hands-on techniques as well as being able to recognize the things that negatively impact breast health. Taught by Katherine Krumwiede.

Thriving in Perimenopause

We will discuss how to navigate the common symptoms of perimenopause, the underlying causes, herbal remedies and complementary modalities to be your best self during this important right of passage. Taught by Phyllis Jaworski.

Meet Our Board & Planning Committee

Katherine Krumwiede

Katherine Krumwiede is an acupuncturist and owner of Diamond Stone Oriental Medicine, and founder of Solidago Farm. She had the pleasure of being the Board President of the North Country Herbalist Guild for five years, and is looking forward to building our herbal community on this side of the river.

Genevieve Needham

Genevieve Needham lives in Wanderoos, WI. She has been practicing massage for 25 years and witnessing the ebb and flow of life and death through her work as a birth and end-of-life doula. She has cultivated relationships with the plants her whole life.

Amy Hess

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with training in integrative medical nutrition therapy and a passion for sustainability, Amy is dedicated to advancing knowledge of plants as an approach to holistic wellbeing and fostering community connections through her role on the St Croix Valley Herb Guild board.

Heidi Madsen

Heidi Madsen is the owner and steward of Bluebird Hill Homestead, a medicinal herb farm, apothecary, and educational venue for nature camps and herbalism classes. She is passionate about creating opportunities for people to experience a deep connection with the earth.

Jessie Belden

Jessie Belden is a mother, folk herbalist, teacher, and homesteader currently tending land in Baldwin, WI. She is convicted that tending our inner ecology with plant medicines has a natural result of living in greater harmony with nature and our Creator.

Eva Branson

Eva Branson is a lifelong resident of Hudson, Wisconsin.  Since childhood she has had a deep connection to nature and a desire to help people which has lead to the study of several modalities in the healing arts; including formal study of herbalism with Lise Wolf.    

Phyllis Jaworski

Phyllis Jaworski is the owner of Sacred Ibis Botanicals. She has a Master of Herbalism certification and supports women suffering from painful and exhausting hormonal imbalances to reconnect with their body, to achieve a greater quality of life, and vitality.
