Herb Walk in the Heart of Polk County
Co-leaders Genevieve Needham and Tanna Worrell will lead us in exploring a variety of habitats where wild foods and medicinal plants flourish, share their knowledge along the way. A few of the plants we are likely to encounter are wild mint, yarrow, sheep sorrel, chickweed, wild grape leaves, milkweed flowers/buds, nettles, wild mustard, jewelweed, and possibly some mushrooms.
We will meet on Tanna’s 40-acre homestead in the heart of Polk County. Tanna started foraging for wild foods in the late 80s when her family was very young. Her first true ‘in person’ mentor was Dr Kelley Hagenbuch, a chiropractor, herbalist, and wild foodie who lived in St Croix Falls in the early 2000’s. Since then, she’s learned from so many local and regional herbalists and wild foodies, and she anticipates that she will continue learning and teaching for the rest of my life.
